Former Parkside pupils wanted!13 September 2019 (by Mrs Atkinson (parksidepri)) |
'Aspirations' is a key driver for our curriculum at Parkside. In past years we have held aspirations events where we have invited professionals to come in to school & talk to the pupils about their roles & what they involve as well as how they got there.
This year we are looking to put a local twist on the events and get as many ex-Parkside pupils involved as possible. We think it will make it more personal to the children to see people who have gone through the school just like they are currently, and are now out in the world achieving lots of different things. It is about letting the young people know about the possibilities that are open to them, to start them thinking about what they might like to strive for beyond school and what steps they would need to take.
The children will think about what they might like to find out from the visitors and prepare questions. The events we have held previously have been really enjoyable for both the pupils and the visitors. In the past we have had a variety of careers represented - such as a merchant navy captain, a barrister, a nail technician, a police officer and a television news reporter to name just a few. It is really beneficial for the children to learn about the routes people have taken after school - career paths, further education, qualifications, experience etc. It would be fantastic to hear what people have gone on to do post-Parkside! Perhaps there are Parkside alumni who are now elsewhere in the country or even overseas - it would be great to find out!
If you are an ex-Parkside pupil and would like to come in to talk to the children, please contact Suzanne Coxon, Deputy Head on 01405 763634 or email parkside.primary@eastriding.gov.uk.
