What have we been doing?
Hockey
Children in 5GB have begun their hockey unit in PE. The first lesson involved pupils navigating their way around the correct grip on the hockey stick, push passing and dribbling the ball around an obstacle while looking up.
National Space Centre Trip
Children in Y5 enjoyed their trip the National Space Centre in Leicester where they found out more about life beyond Earth. They enjoyed testing their own astronaut skills and finding out more about space travel. We were all fascinated by the venue's Night Sky show in the planetarium. Like our topic, the trip was Out of this World!
PSHE
In PSHE, 5A have created their own culture wheels. They then shared similarities and differences with each other before a discussion about how cultural differences sometimes cause conflict.
Planets
Year 5 have been identifying and classifying planets in our solar system.
Science
In science, Year 5 had to evaluate the properties of materials that were all in a mess together and separate them using tools that they had made. For example: they would use a magnet and scoop to extract the metal from the mess.
Computing
In computing, 5A had to discuss how a catalogue store operates and how all the different systems link together.
Industrial Revolution
Children in 5GB have been exploring the key inventions and chronology of the Industrial Revolution by matching inventions to inventors and dates. Also, they have worked collaboratively to categorise innovations' importance, impact and legacy.
