Dear Parents/Carers I am writing to update you on the situation at Parkside and provide further information. Parkside will be open on Monday 3rd July as normal to all children. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused today. The decision was not taken lightly and was to ensure the safety of all. Yesterday we had two incidents of ceiling tiles falling into areas used by the children. On closer inspection the building team found many more tiles that were waterlogged and issues with the roof. The decision to close was only taken when it became apparent that the issue could potentially be a school wide issue. In order to ensure the ongoing safety of everyone, a team has been in today to examine all of our ceiling tiles and undertake emergency repairs on the roof. In consultation with the East Riding building surveyors, the affected ceiling tiles will remain down and will be replaced over the summer holidays. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday.
